You didn't snipe

Two weeks ago I opened a ticket asking why you did
not complete my snipe on this item. Had you done so, I would have been the highest bidder.
I have not had an answer in two weeks. Can you please reply to me.
Thanks

How long will you take to reply to this ticket which was originated more than 2 weeks ago.

Hello Brian,
We responded to your original ticket. I regret the late reply, as I overlooked your post. You just need to re-authorize. To renew your authorization, just visit the BidSlammer Preferences page and follow the prompt to "Refresh Your Authorization."
If these suggestions did not resolve the issue, please let us know so that we can take the next step.

I'm not sure I follow your explanation.
Are you saying that you did not lodge my snipe because of a lack of authorisation? I was completely unaware that I was required to renew my authorisation and have never been required to do that previously for any previous snipe. And, of course, that begs the question: How am I to know reauthorisation is required Do I only learn this when a snipe is not lodged and an item is lost?
Thanks

We check your authorization every time you come back to the site. We are not allowed to continually poll.
Your authorization expiration is in Preferences and you can keep track of it there. It has to be updated every year and a half.

Thank you. I see my authorisation is valid until 24 November. Am I to conclude that it was not valid when the auction in question was conducted? Of course, I accept responsibility if that is the case but it would be good to know when placing a snipe if the authorisation was had lapsed. I had no idea if that was the case.
Thanks
Brian Burke.

It is checked every time you come back to the site. also, I notice goes up 30 days prior to it expiring. However, we still occasionally get inquiries.
I suspect that the authorization is revoked as soon as you change your eBay password, but I’m not sure. I have been meaning to do an experiment.
A way to demonstrate that it is active and working is to add an item to your Watch list on eBay and use the 'Import Watch list' button on the Pending page. I will give you a free year of Unlimited if you can help me test the above, namely, whether changing your eBay password kills the auth.

I added and item to my eBay watch list;
Imported that watch list from eBay to your site and saw the added item was there;
Logged out and back in to both platforms;
Changed my eBay password and logged out of eBay; and
Logged into your site and saw the imported watch list remained there and complete.
I'm not sure what all that means but presume that my authorisation remains valid. And I still have the remaining observation: Perhaps it could be made clearer when authorisation has lapsed. That would avoid the unpleasant discovery of that fact when a snipe was not lodged.
Thanks
Brian Burke.

Great, thank you. Right after you change your eBay password, try to import again. if the import works, that means that the authorization is unaffected by a password change.
bidslammer
I did that and all preferences are present and correct. BTW, when I changed my password I had to renew my authorisation token so that may be worth noting.
Thanks

Thanks I will add the credit after the holiday. I am on an iPad atm.
I am not 100% clear on what caused the need for auth. Please try this all in one session:
1. Add Item A to watchlist at eBay
2. Import at BidSlammer -> verify Item A appears. Y/N
3. Change eBay pass
4. Look in My eBay third party auth -> does it say invalid? Y/N
5. Add Item B
6. Import - item B shows up? Y/N
You have to kinda dig to find Third Party Auth, but it is there.

OK. I did that.
Each time I imported the watch list it was correct and unaffected by the changing of the password. That is, the two items added were there each time.
However, on each time that I changed the password, my authorisation token was rendered invalid and so I renewed it.
My uninformed conclusion is that changing the password does not impact the watch list as imported but does require renewal of the authorisation token.
Then again: I am an old man with fat fingers and a faulty memory so I'd double check myself.
Thanks
