Why didn't snipe trigger?

I'm just curious what happened. My snipe is showing with a light blue tint. My bid was over $400 more than the winning bid. I don't see that I received an error on my bid, it seems like my snipe bid wasn't placed. I had another one yesterday with the same thing. Just curious what happened?

Hello Robert,
Thank you for your question about this snipe. We are investigating this. We got the same result for multiple servers in both cases, so it's not likely anything having to do with eBay delay or account-related issues such as buyer strikes. We did move to a new provider for our database, but need to make sure.
We're transparent on these things and prefer to give a concise answer, so we will reply soon with more information.

The issue was on our end. During last week’s planned move to a new database provider, everything went smoothly. But we didn’t allocate enough memory for the database, which is why the problem didn’t appear until Sunday night (prime time).
So it was human error basically, not a system failure.
The move was planned a year ago when we realized we’d outgrown our original provider. We have always placed snipes from multiple locations, but from a central database. Now, the database itself is multi-regional.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Okay so if the completed snipe appears in blue that means the bid didn’t get made? I had another one happen tonight as well

We did the upgrade when we responded last, around 10pm PST.
Blue means it could not determine the outcome, i.e. the situation wasn't on this list:

I’ve had a few more that my bid didn’t go in. Like last night I had 365333547304. I had a bid of $249 and the item sold for $180. It shows as blue

This is a new situation. A user scheduled hundreds of bids to end at the same second, e.g. 18:00:00. They are all from the same seller that didn't scatter their listings like most do.
In 20 years we never saw this, so I regret you were affected. We are rushing to put in a hot fixthat limits bids to 50 per second, and monitoring closely.
