Snipe for 235436224217 dissappeared. What happened?

Hey, I made a snipe for item 235436224217, but I don't see the snipe anywhere now. It simply doesn't show up as either winning or losing. I didn't cancel the snipe. What happened? I set a snipe for an amount higher than it sold for. I saw the snipe earlier in the day and everything looked fine.

Interesting. I just tried "SlamIt!" on this item, and it says: "You have a snipe on this item for 30.09."
This is the snipe that I remember last setting for the item. So your system does know that I set a snipe on the item even thought you didn't place the bid for me and don't show me the item now.
Also, it seems that I also set a snipe for item: "235436226544"
Can I count on my future set snipes being dealt with properly? Craig

Hello Craig,
Thank you for letting us know about this. I can see the item in our database, so I know it is there. My first thought was that it was in a group, as those do drop off if you win a different one. But this one is not in a group.
I think it was the clock. One of the servers somehow set the clock ahead to GMT time instead of PST. The display is dependent on a correct clock so it knows which folder to put it in.
Could you click the "refresh items" button and let me know if this solve the issue?

Where is the "refresh items" button? You don't mean refresh the page, do you? I tried refreshing the page and as far as I know I still can't see the items in the "Completed" list. Anyhow, nothing will solve the issue now, because the auctions ended and you didn't bid for me.
Some snipes were placed by you just over a day ago, and things seemed to work as I was expecting. So the problem above only seems to have affected me on 2 items. However, I am of course rather disappointed about that. I am hoping that we can chat on the phone sometime, as I do have a number of bugs to report to you if you are interested but would rather do so over the phone or videochat or something.

Above the table there is a button to update the auction info (bid counts and current price). I did it for you when I wrote.
In the course of operating a website, it’s very important to stay on top of security updates and such. One of the updates changed the time zone away from PST (eBay time), but we did catch it relatively early. once every few years, something like this happens, and we simply put a check in place to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
And sure, you are welcome to make requests or report oddities, as we are constantly improving the software, and we generally take every request we get, unless it is against eBay policy. also, to do so this week would be very timely and helpful for us because we are trying to get another release out by the end of next week. We have a lot of great features coming.

There is no "refresh items" button or anything of that nature on the "Completed Items" page, I refreshed the page and still do not see the missing items or the button. (I see "hide losses" button where there might be a refresh button.)
It would be great to have a video chat or audio chat with you, as I have a bunch of feedback and bugs to share. Let me know when you would like to schedule such a meeting. Craig

On the Current Snipes tab there is a "Refresh Bids/Prices" which updates all information including the ending time, in case it changed.

Yes, I am very familiar with the Current Snipes page, but when I wrote to you about this item (and in fact these 2 items), the auction(s) had already finished. I believe that I still do not see the items on the completed items page. I assume they will never show up there now, even though you still have a record of my set snipes for those items.
When shall we talk?

You're right... the refresh doesn't update snipes more than an hour ago. I can do it manually and then check to make sure it re-appears. :)
I'd love to review a list, but there is a new rev coming out in a couple of weeks that addressed anything reported since January. If there is anything really annoying, let me know and we can probably hotfix it for you.

You wrote: "I can do it manually and then check to make sure it re-appears." Did you ever do this? I never recall the snipe showing up in my "Completed" list.
By the way, at the moment I'm supposed to have 7 pages of "Completed" snipes, but from page 4 onwards I only see: "You have no items in this view." It seems rather odd.
The snipes from the missing pages are apparently not in my "Archive" list either. Speaking of the archive list, the first archived entry says that it ended about 19 days ago, but I believe that is not true. If I click on the link, eBay can't find a page for that item. I think that item was from last year sometime. For Completed items and Archive items, I would rather see the date and time that the auction ended than how many days ago that was.

I appreciate the great info.
1. Yes. The "disappearing snipe" was related mainly to the refresh not working correctly at the time, and so I went back and refreshed since Jan 1, 2024. I also reset your win status for last 60 days. If something still isn't right it's related to (2) below.
2. Likely fixed. The 7 pages vs 4 pages would be related to win/loss status as well. It also sounds like it has to do with that checkbox to "hide" auctions. After next release, the absolute best way to let me know would be to open a new ticket and use paste.pics to show snapshot.
3. (a) Fixed. A bugs was fixed where a snipe was archived but did not appear in archive until 30 days later.
(b) Likely fixed. New release has items go directly to your home site, which for EBAY-CA was notorious! There is only one CA website, split into two (2) parts!
Just FYI - the reason these things show up after 20 years is because eBay forced all of us to entirely rewrite our software in 2021. So your help is just great.
