Hello (and HELP!),
This is the second item in a row where my Snipe was apparently not placed successfully. The first item was eBay item# 205031917506 where I had placed a Snipe for $2,000, my bid never went in and the item sold for $68.87 2 days ago. The next item I placed a Snipe on was item# 296741735987 and my bid was $1,200 but my bid was not placed and the item sold for $100. Are you having any issues with eBay that have cropped up recently? I have always had very good results with your service but I just cannot trust it right now, until I know what caused these last two Snipes to not work. Thanks, Chris Miller ([edited]

Hello,
Thank you for your question about these two snipes. I checked the logs and here is what we found.
For 296741735987, it's an odd situation, as eBay returned the following information:
[alert] => success
[errorCode] => 12210
[bothMessages] => Bid Too Low Your bid was not higher than the minimum to bid.
[shortMessage] => Bid Too Low
[longMessage] => Your bid was not higher than the minimum to bid.
[cost] => 1525
[convertedCurrentPrice] => 1525
[high_bidder] => e***e
Noticed that the high bidder "e***e" bid $1525. But this is not in the bidding history shown online, which means that the seller redacted their bid right at the last second. It rarely happens, but I can assure you the log is accurate.
On 205031917506, eBay returned "TUV Error:"
[alert] => warning
[errorCode] => 12311
[bothMessages] => TUV Error TUV Error
[shortMessage] => TUV Error
[longMessage] => TUV Error
[cost] => 49
[convertedCurrentPrice] => 49
"TUV Error" means that there was a Trust and Safety issue with the snipe. Generally it is something having to do with cutlery or firearms, but it can happen for many reasons regarding location, or other types of items.
Unfortunately, eBay doesn't give us any more information than what we have displayed. They do not expose anything that is personal or security related. They take privacy very seriously and limits access to certain types of data to protect its users' privacy.
To find out the exact reason, you have to open a chat with eBay and ask them. They can not only confirm we placed your bids, but also tell you the reason they are rejecting the bids.
So in summary, in this Trust/Safety situation, you must contact eBay for more information.
Please let me know if I can help further, although the next step here is definitely to ask eBay or the seller.
