It didn't bid!

So I had the bidslam all set up and it didn't bid because "you already won an item in this group" ... I looked and it was referring to #272061619070 ... where the bid successfully placed but I was outbid.

What in the heck? I put the group together to ensure I didn't get more than one ... and because you don't know whether I won or not, I get NEITHER?

Hello Drew,

We checked to see what we encountered when we placed your snipes. When we placed the bid for 272061619070, we were unable to verify your credentials with eBay as we couldn't log you in. As a precaution and as per our policy, because we cannot bid or determine win status without that information.. we turned off all snipes in that group.

I see that you updated your information since then, and all snipes will go through now. You will need to re-add any items that were in groups; this will turn them back on again.

Please let us know if this does not remedy the issue and we will be happy to help further. We credited the snipe also.

I don't recall updating my credentials within the last few days, I had updated my credentials after either on 171198469127 or 251757425407. Obviously my credentials were accurate 3 months ago when I won # 331632259833

I trust your judgement, but I can tell you for certain that if you update it, you should be fine.

Our job is to places snipes with what we have. There are many situations that can come up. Here is more information about what can happen when we place snipes:

Clearly the milk has been spilled at this point, but the "we were unable to verify your credentials with eBay as we couldn't log you in" can't be entirely accurate as you successfully PLACED a bid on the item I didn't win (#272061619070). I was simply outbid on it shortly after. So I don't know why you're uncertain of the credentials as they clearly worked.

So it's unfortunate and frustrating but at this point, there's really nothing to be done. I would just like to make sure that you're investigating the right things.

Hello Drew,
No worries, helping you up your win rate up is part of our job, and we are happy to help. You just need to address item #3 on that article I gave above (just section 3):

I can't see your password, but without looking I bet you anything that it probably has an English word or proper noun it. This started around mid-2014 when eBay upped their security dramatically. But we've never seen a customer have any issues after making the suggested changes.

Yeah - I made the change a while ago ... and just reconfirmed it ... Even though I don't believe that was the issue ... I'll just soldier on.

Hello Drew,
I do agree that I didn't explain it very well since we are talking about two things. And technically you are right, but with a caveat.
Let me explain it like a timeline, the events happened in this order.
1. On 12/7 we bid two snipes on 272061619070, one second apart.
2. One bid got through and you were outbid.
3. The second bid did not go through because it received a Captcha dialog.
4. Because the captcha dialog is an indication of an insecure password, for which we cannot guarantee service, we shut off all other snipes in that group.
The group bidding feature is a very dangerous feature to allow to run unchecked. If we see anything suspicious we shut off so you don't win something you don't want.
As long as your new password doesn't have any English words, you are good to go. Thanks for your patience in the discussion.
