Continuing "Too Late Sniping" Problem on Specific Site

7249 4 0

I have inquired about this before, but the problem continues. Several times I have scheduled a snipe for 5-10 seconds before the end of an auction on one specific site, and I have significantly overbid the final actual winning bid. eBay shows no record of my bid being submitted, and you show the same message in Completed Snipes that the "auction ended early or the item was sold." eBay shows the auction ending at exactly the time originally specified, but my snipe was not submitted before the auction closed. The seller is based in Germany, but it appears that the auction is on the US eBay site, but I have no way to be certain of that. I have not had this "late snipe" problem with any other seller, so I am concerned that BidSlammer may be miscalculating the ending time somehow for this specific site in Germany for some reason and then you tell me the "auction ended early or the item was sold" which is not the case. Please help me understand how to solve this "snipe submitted too late" problem. Thank you.

Hello James,
Thank you for your question about snipes. You are adding snipes at 10-15 seconds before the auction ends. As per our disclaimer, you must add snipes more than 2 minutes before the auction ends.
Normally our software catches this situation if you try to do it, but something changed where it isn't. We are checking into that. In any case this is not within our specification.
Please let us know if you have any other questions, or require other assistance. We are happy to help.

I added no snipes 10-15 seconds before the end of the auction. The two minute rule does not explain this situation and my attempted snipe bids that have been failing with the German seller in question. I set up all the problem snipes that failed to work days in advance and made no changes within hours of the end of the auction, including the item referenced above. It seems to be a "clock" problem with this seller's auctions. My snipe bids apparently are submitted just after the auction closes, even when I use your recommended 7 seconds snipe time. I can see from eBay the exact time the auction ended, which is the same time as specified in the original listing. Can you see what time my snipe bid actually occurred via BidSlammer? Please note that all my other recent snipe bids via BidSlammer with other US based sellers have been successful even when I use a 5 second snipe. I simply can't understand why my snipe bids to this one seller are failing consistently now at 4 a.m. when I set them up days in advance. Please examine this a little deeper. Thank you.

You are correct. The snipe was entered around 10 minutes before closing - I misjudged the timestamps. And you are correct, that this has occurred 4 times in the last month or so and it is the same seller.
Unfortunately we have no explanation. We see the bid "wake up," and start .. then it just stops. We log every step of the process and this is the only information we have. We've never seen it before.
99.9% of the time it is a setup condition or something in the user's account, such as when the seller limits the number of items each person buys from them. You might try bidding manually and seeing if that results in an error message.
In any case, I can assure you we are placing your bids on time in every case.
Thank you for taking the time to write in. Please let us know if you have any other questions. We are happy to help.
