You asked about having a manual and snipe bid for the same item. You can do this, but we don't recommend it.
If another bidder comes in between your two bids, as is usually the case, you will pay an extra bid increment, but it could be much more. Your opponent will see your existing bid and could try to beat it, which will raise the cost. That is, they might emotionally escalate whatever bid they had previously planned to make if they hadn't seen your bid.
