bidding the maximum

5848 5 1

The last couple auctions I have won with BidSlammer were for the maximum amount I entered. It made me nervous that I am overpaying for items with BidSlammer - that it is bidding my maximum rather than the minimum required to win. I opened a ticket two weeks ago for this, but have not heard anything back from you yet.

Hello,
Thank you for your question about proxy bidding. On item 293694708597, there were three bidders that bid $55.00. You bid $56.00. Why do you think you paid more than the minimum?
We did respond to your other post. The response was:
Thank you for your question about the closing price of your auctions. The only two items I can see fitting your description are 293691660924 and 293694708597. In both cases there were people that bid the same price that you did.
In general, you can check the bidding history for the auction page of issue. eBay calculates the price by taking the second-highest bid, and adding a bid increment.
Thank you for taking the time to write in. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the quick reply, and for replying to the previous request. I guess there is no problem. It struck me as weird, but maybe that is a lesson to bid nice round numbers +1.

Bid by round number *increments*. Use the same penny value. So if the displayed price is $123.45, then bid $155.45. Notice that our bid entry input boxes have (+) and (-) buttons; that is to prevent someone from entering a higher, but losing bid. :)
Hmm... in 20 years I don't think I've ever explained it that well. I think a revision to the help page is in order. ;)

Also - we enabled the bidding chart feature for you. We are hoping it is helpful to people that are still learning the system. We are asking customers for feedback on how to improve it. Just reply in the next 14 days before this thread auto-closes.
The help page for it is here:
